Welcome and thank you for visiting my site!
My name is Daniela Roher, I am a psychotherapist trained in Europe and the US and have been in practice for over 30 years.
I have studied in Italy (University of Torino), England (Universities of Cambridge and Oxford), and the United States (Wayne State University), thereby achieving a deep understanding of the human mind and psychopathology. My training includes classes and workshops at the Tavistock Institute in London, England and the London Family Institute, as well as at UCLA. I received a postdoctoral certificate in adult psychoanalytic psychotherapy from the Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute, and this model continues to deeply influence my approach and work today.
My training and clinical experience have helped me fine-tune my understanding of the human mind. The ♥ of conflict model reflects my clinical approach to address emotional challenges and difficulties. This approach goes beyond focusing on superficial symptoms, exploring underlying causes for them. If unaddressed, these underlying causes would continue to create new symptoms.
I am a member of the American Psychological Association, the American Psychoanalytic Association, the American Counseling Association, the Arizona Psychological Association, the American Psychotherapy Association, the Southwest Psychoanalytic Society and the Arizona Counseling Association. I served as the president of the Southwest Psychoanalytic Society from 1998 to 2000. I am a licensed professional counselor in Arizona.
My practice consists of adolescents and adults, whom I see individually and with spouses or families. Because I believe in the importance of being keenly attuned to patients' signals, be they verbal or non-verbal, I provide sympathetic listening and empathic facilitating of the interpersonal process that leads to understanding and healing. I am available to my patients 24 hours a day through my beeper.
I have co-authored a book on how to understand and negotiate the rough times in intimate relationships.
"The time which we have at our disposal every day is elastic: the passions we feel expand it, those that we inspire contract it, and habit fills up what remains."
